2016 Vision Goals: 5% Increase in Giving

Wedgwood,

Our Interim Pastor, Nathan Lorick, has laid out a vision for 2016 that, as a community of believers, we can join together and do great things for the kingdom. Over the next few weeks we will be talking about each goal and discussing the “how” we can get there together. The last few weeks we focused on 100 Baptisms and 200 new members. This week we will focus on increasing overall giving by 5%.

Why increase giving by 5%? Faith and Faithfulness. Giving is an active expression of our faith. It recognizes God as our True Provider. It affirms our confidence in His ability to supply all we need. It is an act of gratitude and dependence. And, it allows us to partner with God and His work through the church and in the world. Giving requires the highest standard of personal integrity and discipline. It is not a casual or occasional thing. Through our tithes and offerings, we prove faithful in the stewardship of all God has provided for us. In this email we cannot get to all the theological topics with giving, but our giving website should address any further questions you may have:  www.wedgwoodbc.org/give/ With that, here are some opportunities in 2016 you can join in to help us see this goal become a reality.

Start somewhere to get to 5%

For many of you, life has happened. You are not giving as we are called to give back in a tithe to your local congregation. You may not be able to give 10% tomorrow due to your current life situation, but you can start at 1%. Why a percentage? That is how the Lord addressed giving in Scripture. As a church, if we increase our giving total by 5% we will hit and exceed our church budget and have more resources to share the Gospel. For some of you that is means just start giving and others to increase giving to a full 10%. Together we can hit 5%!

Plan ahead personally and as a family

After the first week of these emails, I was asked “why do we have goals?” Simple. When you aim at nothing, you hit nothing. It is all God’s. Your giving to your local church is a vital part of Kingdom growth. Plan for 2016 to be the year you start giving or increase your giving to God. Budget ahead. Give from your first fruits as soon as you receive the blessing of your gifts and give them to the Lord. Remember, He gives us 90%, we are only asked to give 10% back to Him.

How You Can Give

Giving has never been easier. On Sunday you can give through the offering plate with cash or check. You can logon to our website and give one time or recurring giving through Infellowship. You can also text your tithe one at a time or schedule recurring with check and card. Lastly, you can give using “Bill Pay” through your bank and the bank will mail the church a check. This is a great option because there is no fee for the church or you. There is no excuse for not having a way to give.  If you have any questions on giving please contact Jeff Laster in the church office.
