Alaska

Serving in North Pole, AK

Alaska is called the Last Frontier and the Interior of Alaska is often called the Land of the Midnight Sun. About 10 miles east of Fairbanks is the small town of North Pole where Santa can always be found in his house on Santa Clause Lane. Just down the street from the Santa House is the First Baptist of North Pole (FBNP) pastored by Jeff Ling.

Wedgwood has had a connection with FBNP since our first mission trip in 2000 when a group of Wedgies put a new roof on a duplex apartment located on campus. Since then mission projects have included:

Projects Accomplishments

  • Sanctuary renovation; Outdoor kitchen and shower units
  • Renovation of the downstairs duplex apartment
  • Vacation Bible School & Facets of a Woman Conference
  • Construction of the pastor’s home
  • Construction of a new home for a church couple who were living in a trailer home
  • Plans are underway to clear some land adjacent to the campus for construction of a new building to house the church’s clothes closet and to put new insulation and siding on the new home built in 2014. Plans also include coordinating with Fairbanks Community groups to provide a “Convoy of Hope” type of event where the community will come together to help meet needs for the homeless and working poor of the area

  • Add insulation and siding to the home we built last summer
  • Clear land next to the church for possible new building to house a Clothes Closet and other outreach needs
  • Operation Hope for Fairbanks: a week-long operation providing
  • Medical/Dental care
