MDWK Topic: “Definition of Justice”
Wednesday, March 1st

When Jesus was on earth, he wasn’t exactly known for telling people what they wanted to hear. Jesus’ message was unlike any message people had ever heard before. He didn’t give shallow motivational speeches or feel-good sermons. He didn’t recycle the same messages other religious leaders were teaching. He flipped people’s ideas about God, the world, and themselves completely upside down — usually in uncomfortable ways. And that’s always how God’s words have worked! In this four-week series, we’ll compare Jesus’ words in the Gospels with the words of the Old Testament prophets to see how God’s words have always challenged our understanding of what’s wrong or right, good or bad, and just or unjust. We’ll talk about how, both then and now, God flips our assumptions about who God values, our definition of righteousness, ourunderstanding of what’s good enough, and ourdefinition of justice.

Establishing Faith Group Training for Adult Leaders
Tuesday, March 7th

Colossians 2: 6-7 says, ““Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”  We have a desire to see every student leave our student ministry rooted and built up in Christ, established in their faith, and walking in Christ for a lifetime. To do this, we believe that small group discipleship is a must. So these groups are going to be equipped to walk in spiritual disciplines weekly, along with holding each other accountable and encouraging each other to walk in Christ.

If you are interested in one of these groups, please contact Patrick Lively by sending him an email at Patrick.lively@wedgwoodbc.org.

MDWK Topic: What God has said
Wednesday, March 8th

FOCUS: A 4-WEEK STUDY FROM THE GOSPELS & PSALMS ON SPIRITUAL GROWTH‘
SERIES OVERVIEW:

It’s not easy to stay focused. Especially these days, when we’re connected to a never-ending stream of new notifications, ads, messages, videos, posts, and entertainment, it makes sense if we feel a little distracted sometimes. Maybe you’ve struggled recently to stay focused on your homework, or on the story your friend was telling you, or on the movie you were watching — but have you ever struggled to stay focused when you were spending time with God? In this four-week series, we’re going to get honest about how difficult it can be to stay focused when we’re trying to pray, read the Bible, or grow in our faith. Each week, we’ll explore passages from Psalms and the Gospels as we challenge ourselves to focus on practicing four spiritual disciplines that can help us grow. Together, we’ll try focusing on what God has said, on giving something up, on talking to God, and on rest.
